Employment Opportunities

Qualification Pathways
Obtaining a qualification under Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) is the best way to further a career in accounting. There are several levels of qualifications available:
Chartered Accountant
This is one of the most esteemed professional qualifications available. Being a Chartered Accountant is recognised worldwide and will enable the holder a greater array of opportunities than otherwise possible. It comprises:
- Academic study - four years degree-level study including completion of a bachelor's degree
- Three years of practical experience
- Additional professional study
Accounting Technician
People with this qualification have a fundamental knowledge of accounting. It comprises:
- Academic study – two years of tertiary study
- One year of practical experience
- Additional professional study

Approved Training Organisation
The key component to all of the Institutes' qualifications is practical experience. This must be completed at an Approved Training Organisation (ATO). An ATO is an organisation that the Institute has approved as competent of offering the type of work experience that fulfils the practical experience requirements for admission to the College of Chartered Accountants or College of Associate Chartered Accountants.
